Screenwise, the Sydney Film & TV Acting School that boasts graduates like Spartacus Vengeance Season 3 star Todd Lasance who plays Julius Caesar, announces a one day master intensive with one of Los Angeles’ most sought after Casting Directors, Tamara Hunter.
This is a chance for experienced Australian actors with showreels to work intimately with and be seen by the casting director behind hit movies such as TRON Legacy, Iron Man 1 & 2, Kick-Ass, Captain America, Cowboys and Aliens, and recently Safe House and The Avengers, starring Australia’s own Chris Hemsworth.
Denise Roberts, founder and CEO of Screenwise, states, “Acting is the easy part…getting seen by the right people? Now that’s hard. We have a plethora of incredible talent here, and Screenwise will continue to do it’s utmost to help that talent make that difficult transition from Domestic to International”.
Tamara’s first master intensive on Saturday 4th August has already sold out and space is limited in the second and final boutique master intensive on Sunday 5th August.
Meanwhile, the 2011 Diploma of Screen Acting students called it a “wrap” on their first film titled Lovers and Friends. Directed by Stephen Wallace (Blood Oath, Turtle Beach, Twisted Tales) and DOP Ray Argall, President of the Australian Directors Guild. Lovers and Friends is an engaging insight into how relationships entwine and develop in young adults and the complexities that steer and motivate their behaviour. Lovers and Friends is a performance piece that allows the Diploma students the opportunity to delve and explore characterisation on camera, gaining much needed experience working on a professional set with industry heavyweights and a professional production crew.
The 2 Year Full-Time Diploma of Screen Acting is the first of its kind in Australia. The Government accredited course was established in 2011 after Denise Roberts, CEO of Screenwise and renowned Australian actress, recognised the need for a full-time Diploma course specific to screen acting.
For students not ready or available to commit to a 2 year, full-time course, there is the Screenwise Showreel Course. This course is designed for students wanting to take the next step to becoming a professional actor but who are not in the position to attend an intensive course such as the Diploma. The course equips actors with an expert showreel, shot on location by professional directors. A professional showreel is necessary in obtaining a good agent and entry into master intensive casting workshops like those in August with Tamara Hunter.
