The Exciting Launch of a New Online Teaching Platform Concept

The Freasyway concept is simple, yet complete. Countless High Schools, universities, superior technical schools or independent teachers can share paid or free lessons on the Freasyway platform. The content is made accessible to all students or interested individuals. By posting online paid lessons, leads to certain commission fees..

In addition, various complementary services are available as following: Small national and international announcements referring to the educational field and generally anything related to areas of interest for students and educators.

“Teach in real time” thanks to the advantages brought by the Freasyway virtual class, a complex system that allows teachers to connect with their students in real time. The virtual class module enables educational institutions, represented by a teacher or an administrator, to plan and set the details of the educational content, including title, the date and hour, duration, the language used for a specific class’ interface, and, when needed, to record the lessons. Due to the implementation of functionalities such as video-conferencing for maximum 10 persons, a whiteboard, screen sharing and content sharing, the educational institutions take advantage of advanced collaboration tools in real time; such tools enable them to teach courses online in real time..

Besides the possibility to exchange documents and videos, Freasyway also provides a virtual educational library called “Box reader” that grants users full access to various and numerous resources: manuals, homework sets, graduation tests, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc..

We have already reached success with no less than 300 educational institutions, associations and independent teachers spread across 9 countries and 3 continents (France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, The United States, Canada, China, Germany, Russia) that currently use Freasyway. The system clearly responds to the needs of educational institutions by offering an alternative and complementary solution to the traditional system, as initially was intended and created by its conceptor.

Due to a collaboration with the MEET Organization, which promotes accessible education for every European, Freasyway was developed for offering a real and complete solution for current needs in terms of education at a national/international level. With the support of SPECo Vaud Region of Leman, Freasyway will equally benefit from the expertise generously provided by MJ Media and Thot Cursus, gained in their field of expertise.

Surpassing the physical boundaries of Europe and the United States, the goal ofFreasyway is also to develop educational systems in the disadvantaged countries, such as Africa or certain countries of South America or Asia, via new technologies. In order to achieve that, 40% from all profits generated by our system will be used for the creation of Learning Centers and a scholarship support fund.

Dore Frances, Ph.D. Celebrates A Decade Of Helping Families in Crisis With Troubled Teens at Horizon Family Solutions

In 2001 Dore Frances created Horizon Family Solutions, LLC (H.F.S.) with the intention to assist and educate parents during a time of crisis with their teenager. This year Horizon Family Solutions is celebrating over a decade of assisting families.

During these ten years, Dore Frances has been asked for her opinion by Seventeen Magazine and interviewed by The Monterey Herald in California.

She also spoke at the Boise High school in Idaho about the dangers of drugs and answered some very tough questions from both parents and teens.

Not seeking publicity Dore Frances has shared information with attorneys, counselors, doctors, families, health care providers, and other professionals through her two newsletters and the most recent addition of RMG Teen Alerts. She also has several e-Book publications in process that will assist families in crisis who are needing to make a placement decision and are not able to travel ahead of time.

Recently Dore Frances was accepted into the American Evaluation Association (A.E.A.) and will be conducting in-depth evaluations of programs and schools that are assisting families in raising today’s teens. Frances knows personally the anguish parent’s experience when their home is being invaded by an out of control teen, who themselves is in crisis.

She too choose to place her own daughter in a residential therapeutic treatment center over 10 year ago. Neither she nor her daughter have any regrets.

Since that time Dore Frances has learned a lot about the benefits and concerns of programs and schools that have invaded the Internet. It is always painful when needing to make a decision about placing your child in the care of others, usually far from home. You want a quick fix, and have your child reunited with you as soon as possible. However, it does take time. The crisis did not happen overnight and you will not come back from it overnight.

Dore Frances knows first hand that there are excellent addiction treatment centers, clinical programs, eating disorder programs, learning disability schools, residential treatment centers and wilderness programs all across the United States.

She has visited hundreds of programs and schools in Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho and many other states. It is more important than ever that these programs and schools do the very best they can in the areas they specialize in and that parents, as well as programs, remember that one size does not fit all.

Schools Unite To Form UK’s First Schools Co-operative

More than 100 primary, secondary schools and colleges in England are set to pool resources, expertise and buying power in the first organisation of its kind in the UK – the Schools Co-operative Society (SCS).

The announcement comes at a time when the Government is encouraging greater independence in education as part of major reforms and is designed to help schools help themselves in accordance with co-operative values and principles.

Already registered as a co-operative, the organisation’s governing body is now working on a strategy that will include:
• Sharing best practice in terms of teaching and management.
• Advancing the co-operative cause in the field of education.
• Using combined buying power – estimated at £100 million plus – to purchase a range of goods and services including energy, administrative services.

All the schools and colleges involved employ globally shared co-operative values such as self-help, democracy, equality, honesty and social responsibility both in their governance and in the curriculum. They are part of the Co-operative Schools Programme, one of the community projects which has been run by The Co-operative Group, the UK’s biggest mutual retailer, and the Co-operative College, the Movement’s educational charity, for the last eight years.

Dave Boston, head teacher of Sir Thomas Boughey Co-operative Business and Enterprise College in Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been appointed Chair of the SCS Board.

He explained: “Co-operative values and principles are more relevant than ever at a time when people are being urged to be more independent and less reliant on the state.

Finally it is Teacher Appreciation Week

“Teacher appreciation makes the world of education go around.” Helen Peters. Whether you are 8 or 18 years old, you live in South Korea or in Sweden, you are black or you are white. Everyone around the world has at least one teacher who has inspired them and motivated them to keep on going and never give up. The only thing we can give back is showing our appreciation for their work and effort. This appreciation makes teachers aware of what their efforts mean to us and keeps them doing the great things they do. Students from different country celebrate this in their own way, with their own and unique habits and on different dates.

Finally it is Teacher Appreciation Week

Today starts the week during which students of the US can express their gratefulness for what their teachers have taught them. Today starts the week where for once the teachers don’t give, but the students do. Today starts the week that entire classes work together to surprise their teachers. Today starts the week that makes teachers feel good about what they do. Today starts the week that makes the world of education go around. Today starts Teacher Appreciation Week.

Until May 7th, teachers will walk out of their homes with an even bigger smile on their face than usual. Because they now that this is the week that they get recognition for all the effort they put into this job. “Teachers appreciate being appreciated, for teacher appreciation is their highest award.” – William Prince. They work so hard by teaching us how to write, read and count. They treat us as their own children and from today on, we can show them that we treat them as our second parents. Although we give them headaches and make them upset all the time, there is one week to make it all up and make sure that they don’t forget why they do so much for us.

During this week and especially on Tuesday, everyone does their best to be as creative as possible and surprise their teachers with the most amazing and original ideas. On teacher appreciation info you can find a lot of initiatives that were done in the past and different tips. One tip is to keep in mind which teachers you are surprising. Try to know as much as possible about them and use this to create a present. In this way, your present means much more to those particular teachers and gets a personal touch. Your teachers are happy and so are you, because for once, you managed to give them something that means a lot and not the other way around.

More Schools Adopt Co-Operative Trust Model

The growing acceptance that the co-operative model offers schools a compelling structure was further underlined when the latest tranche of co-operative trust schools was announced.

Fifteen new co-operative trust schools, which offer all stakeholders an opportunity to be involved in the running of their school, become legal entities today (1 April) bringing the total throughout the country to more than 50.

The new co-operative schools include a Leeds based federation of eight schools with another cluster in South Bristol. Individual school trusts are also being established in Stoke-on-Trent, Oldham, Bradford, High Wycombe and Peterborough.

Anyone with an interest in the school including students, teachers, parents, employers and the local community will be encouraged to become members of the Trust, making the trust a community based mutual.

The members will elect representatives to a school stakeholder forum, which will meet on a regular basis, in order to ensure that those in positions of responsibility remain sensitive to the needs, views and aspirations of the different groups.

This co-operative mutual model is based on open membership, equal democratic participation (one member, one vote) and clear accountability of those in charge to those for whom services are provided is very much in fashion at the present time.

Russell Gill, Head of Membership at The Co-operative Group, said: “The co-operative model, which is very much in vogue with the mainstream political parties, allows all stakeholders greater participation in the running of the school and our values, that date back more than 150 years, offer schools an ethos which we believe can lead to higher standards, aspirations and achievements.”

Safetyshop Reveal the Winning School of Their School Safety Sign Competition

Towards the end of 2009 Safetyshop, the UK’s number 1 safety sign manufacturer and supplier of over 30,000 safety solutions, launched a contest open to schools up and down the country to design a new safety sign aimed at school children.

The first prize was recently awarded to the EPRU unit located within the grounds of Whitefield Community Primary School, Manchester, closely followed by St John Fisher Catholic Primary School in Middlesex.

Safetyshop is delighted with the safety themes that developed from the competition. The best entries represented health and safety issues ranging from hand hygiene, playground safety, healthy eating to email and internet safety.

The Safetyshop panel, tasked with the difficult job of picking a school sign winner, commented “we were captivated at how creative some designs were and how students demonstrated the importance of safety within their school environment”

Prizes for the EPRU unit are:

• The chance to have their design digitally manufactured into a 300Hx400W mm safety awareness sign and then see it transformed into an interpretation of how the design could be manufactured into a prohibition safety sign
• £150 worth of vouchers to spend on health and safety equipment at Safetyshop
• 51 piece media mix art set
• WH Smith gift voucher
• 99 piece first response first aid kit
• Two “understanding safety signs” wall charts
• “First aid for children” wall chart

Safetyshop, still a British manufacturer of safety signs, is entering into its 40th year of trading and wanted to do something special to mark this achievement. One of Safetyshop’s core beliefs is that anyone who gets involved in health and safety practice is safer than those who don’t.

Safetyshop also believes that safety education at an early age can be developed into a safety culture that young people can carry forward into their working lives. A safety sign competition seemed like the logical opportunity to begin helping support young people think about and identify hazards in their school.

The Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) is currently campaigning to have a similar initiative included in the UK’s national curriculum and Safetyshop fully supports this young people’s campaign.

Peoples Education, a leading provider of supplemental educational material for the K-12 school market, today announced the addition of Reading, Grades 3-8 materials to the successful Measuring Up Express for the TAKS program. This new program, which first launched late last year, now offers a complete line of Reading, Math, and Science materials for Texas elementary and middle school tested grade levels. The Reading, Grades 3-8 program, includes student worktexts, Diagnostic Practice Tests, and Formative Assessments.

“Teachers told us that they are beginning to instructionally move to the new reading TEKS, but these TEKS are not yet tested. They still need materials to help students succeed on the pre-existing TEKS, which will be tested in 2010 and beyond,” commented Brian T. Beckwith, the company’s President and CEO. “Peoples Education has a history of responding to Texas educators’ needs promptly and with high-quality TEKS and TAKS-customized content. This new reading TAKS preparation and review program is no exception.”

The Measuring Up Express worktexts are a companion to the successful Measuring Up to the TEKS program. The new books address the TEKS that will be tested in 2010 with new content and reading passages. In areas where students need extra instructional support, Measuring Up lessons can be selected for in-depth standards coverage. For quick and easy test review 3-6 weeks prior to the TAKS, Measuring Up Express lessons are the perfect tool. The short lessons provide a brief review of the standards and relevant vocabulary, as well as test practice in the format of the current TAKS. The Measuring Up Express books also include a correlation to the new reading TEKS to help teachers and students as they transition to the new standards.

“Peoples Education has worked tirelessly to align the TEKS with the Measuring Up Express Reading worktexts,” remarked Elizabeth Firmin Birdwell, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Duncanville ISD. “I think teachers will enjoy the product and they will find that it is cognitively aligned.”

The Measuring Up Express program includes free Formative Assessments as blackline masters so teachers can monitor student progress at the end of every chapter. Two free Diagnostic Practice Tests for each student allow teachers to diagnose student weaknesses and prescribe review lessons in the Measuring Up Express OR Measuring Up worktexts. This diagnose-prescribe-instruct model in the Measuring Up program has helped over 3 million Texas students improve test scores.

The Henley Human Resources Centre Of Excellence At Henley Business School Has Just Completed New Research To Discover What Organisations Want Right Now From Their HR Function

The Henley HR Centre of Excellence focuses on applied research to help HR clients answer questions like: ‘What does a business want from HR?’, ‘What does a good HR person look like?’ and ‘How do you develop great HR capability?’.

The new research showed that the HR function faces both great challenges and opportunities in understanding the business, its challenges and adding value, to provide:

– Operational efficiency in HR activities: quickly slimming down existing processes and policies in line with cutbacks and finding creative ways of delivering lower cost alternatives that are not too different in quality.

– Balance between the short and long term: with CEOs in survival mode, it is imperative that HR manages the tension between saving money now and the need to identify good people, place them in the right jobs, develop them and keep them.

– Focus on what is important: HR must ensure decisions are fact based so that business performance is balanced with maintaining business reputation for both corporate social responsibility and employer branding.

– Real emotional support to the organisation: HR has to step up and implement sound, consistent strategies to help everyone through the lows of the recession, managing not just the process, but also the sentiment, the environment, and some of the messaging that goes round.

The research analysis also shows that only a minority of HR professionals are stepping up to the challenge of the recession by focusing on adding value to the business and dealing with people with integrity and respect.

The Henley Business School Advanced Human Resources Business Partner programme is based on current new studies like this along with other real-world business research into what is required from HR today. The Advanced HR Business Partner programme is intended to provide HR professionals looking to move to more senior roles with the necessary leadership skills to understand and contribute to overall business management; to help them focus on aligning the HR agenda with the strategic business imperatives of their organisations, on deriving competitive advantage for the business through delivery of that agenda and on developing their own strategic leadership skills.

The Advanced HR Business Partner programme is part of Henley Business School’s portfolio of executive development programmes aimed at helping organisations to develop effective leadership and the right calibre of managers to survive and thrive in today’s turbulent economic times. The extensive executive education syllabus includes both customised and tailored qualification programmes which are highly practical, designed to create immediate impact and make a real difference back in the work environment.
