Everblue Training Institute has announced that it will begin offering its highly sought after Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Exam Preparation courses in Hartford, CT.

Everblue Training Institute, a leading green education provider, has announced that it will begin offering its highly sought after Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Exam Preparation courses in Hartford, CT. The US Green Building Council’s LEED certification for buildings is the gold standard for green buildings in the United States and around the world. As of January 1, 2009, all commercial building construction in the state of Connecticut worth $5 million or more must meet LEED-Silver standards. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) are recognized experts in LEED that can navigate the green building process and help buildings attain LEED Certification.

As green building goes mainstream, professionals from all backgrounds are seeking the coveted LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) title by taking the US Green Building Council’s LEEP AP Exam. The exam, however, has a notoriously low pass rate and is scheduled to double in length after March 31, 2009 from two to four hours. With a staff experienced in both green building and test-preparation, Everblue Training Institute has developed exam preparation classes designed both to inform students about the basics of LEED and to help them pass the exam.

This is Everblue’s first LEED course offering in Connecticut. “This is the next logical step after having so much success in New York and Boston,” said Chris Boggiano, co-founder of Everblue. After an overwhelming initial response, Everblue’s LEED Exam courses are now available in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Hartford, Irvine, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Washington, DC. The company plans to continue expanding its offerings into other major US markets in throughout 2009 and will begin offering LEED Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED O&M) Exam Prep courses in the spring of 2009 as the new exam becomes available.

In the Financial Times Executive MBA Rankings, Henley was rated overall in the top 5 in the UK, top 15 in Europe and top 50 globally. For career progression it was rated number 1 in the UK and 5 in the world, with salary increase and attracting women onto the courses also significant results.

Professor Christopher Bones, Dean, said: “This provides external testimony to many of those aspects of our MBA programmes of which we are most proud… we retain some great ranking positions in an increasingly competitive business school market. The team are working hard already to ensure we get even further up the rankings for 2009. The benefits that come from our merger with The University of Reading will help to strengthen our position.”

UIC Offers Online Health Informatics Master’s Degree For Health Care Technology Professionals UIC Offers Online Health Informatics Masters Degree For Health Care Technology Professionals

The Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) began offering a fully online Master of Science in Health Informatics degree in fall 2007, and in just one year enrollment has grown 107 percent, from 32 students to 86 students.

The 45-credit hour program prepares students to shape the cutting-edge technology and processes that are revolutionizing the health care industry. It is one of only three online master’s degree programs to be approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

“This is a program that has great value for health care industry professionals,” said Charlotte (Toby) Tate, dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences. “As the industry continues to move forward to paperless medical, financial and insurance records, it will take well-trained and knowledgeable professionals to develop, implement, and maintain systems to store and manage the information.”

Designed for working professionals who wish to excel in the rapidly-evolving health care industry, this Master’s degree can be completed in as little as 18 months without interrupting the student’s work schedule.

Students receive instruction from permanent, industry-experienced UIC professors rather than instructors who are contracted for short-term assignments, common in some online educational forums. Notably, the program meets the terms of all existing policies, procedures, deadlines and regulations of the University of Illinois at Chicago, giving students a prestigious graduate degree supported by a world-class, research-intensive university.

Blending a technical foundation with coursework covering current clinical trends, government regulations, and health care-specific best management practices, UIC’s curriculum equips students with the analytical and managerial expertise sought after in this dynamic field. The UIC health informatics program was the first in the country to focus not just on technology, but also on the social and organizational factors that often determine whether a technology implementation will be successful in a health care institution.

“Students enter the program to either enhance their current careers or transition into new, more challenging fields,” said associate dean and program director Larry Pawola. “Depending on their work experience, graduates are prepared for a wide range of roles in mid- to high-level management in the health care information setting. Our graduates become chief security officers, systems or application analysts, project managers and IT department directors, just to name a few.”

Alumni of UIC’s health informatics programs (online and classroom) are at the forefront of the industry with employers that include KPMG International, the American Hospital Association, Cerner Corporation, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and numerous hospital and health provider organizations.

With 25,000 students, 15 colleges and research funded at over $332 million, the University of Illinois at Chicago is the largest university in the Chicago area. Located in the Illinois Medical District, just west of Chicago’s Loop, UIC is a vital part of the educational, technological and cultural fabric of the city. According to U.S. News & World Report, UIC is one of the most diverse and affordable universities in the nation. UIC is a “Best Buy,” accordingly to Barron’s Best Buys in College Education.

Corporate Training That Pays Off

Picture this. The corporate culture is “Do more with less.” You are overwhelmed due to the additional workload. Morale is down. You receive an invitation to yet another team building program, and you think, “I know how to collaborate. I have too much work to attend another team building event.” Your boss notes in the invitation, “We need to work better together. Synergy drives results.” You arrive at the team building event, known as “bicycle building.” Everyone breaks into groups and collaborates to build 10 bicycles. You realize the advantage of interacting with your colleagues in a relaxed environment, a much needed break from the daily grind. Then just as the program is wrapping up, 10 less fortunate children from the community come running in, to receive their first bicycles ever. At first you could hear a pin drop. Then everyone cheered. Some even had a tear in their eye. All of a sudden, the whole meaning of team building changed from “Yeah, I know how to collaborate” to “WOW… We really made a difference in these children’s lives.” At the same time, the Executives collaborated for a more productive work environment.

Feeling part of a bigger purpose is one of the secrets to Employee engagement. Participants were pleased to see the “fruits of their labor” and see the big picture as a whole. If Employees are continually shown the big picture/purpose of their workload, they feel appreciated, engaged, and loyal. The 2007 Global Workforce Study found that 1 in 5 workers today is engaged, so how do we educate tomorrow’s leaders to increase these engagement levels? Most Leaders’ #1 priority is results. Have they tried implementing a balanced approach of results and people? Now more than ever, having “People Smarts” is critical for the success of our future Leaders.

Smarter Toddler Nursery and Preschool in New York City has announced a ban on the phrase Terrible Twos

Smarter Toddler Nursery and Preschool in New York City has announced a ban on the phrase Terrible Two’s insisting that the term encourages and excuses bad behavior in Toddlers. “A two year old who people refer to as a Terrible Two may need either more physical activity, more stimulating academic challenges or simply more 1-on-1 attention,” said Jessica Collins, spokesperson for the school, “At Smarter Toddler we don’t believe in the phrase Terrible Two’s. What we do believe in is giving a child a combination of attention and special activities that help to keep their minds off of the need to begin what some would describe as bad behavior. Smarter Toddler does that by providing children with a warm, loving, fun environment that focuses on the artistic, cultural and social development of each child”.

The teachers and management of Smarter Toddler would like the support of not onlyparents with children at their center but also parents, guardians and teachers everywhere to not use the term Terrible Two’s.

“Educators and psychologists have proved that negative statements are more likely to encourage negative behavior in not only children but adults also,” said Ms. Collins. “Call Johnny a bad boy and your likely to get a bad boy. Instead of saying Terrible Two, using the term Terrific Two is much more positive and likely to encourage and expect good behavior in a child”.

About Smarter Toddler:
Smarter Toddler is a Daycare Center and Preschool on Manhattan’s Upper West Side founded by parents of gifted toddlers who wanted a progressive preschool with an advanced arts-based curriculum that their own children could benefit from, hence the name. It has long been proven that a child’s brain is like a dry sponge capable of absorbing knowledge at a much faster rate than an adult’s. As a result, at Smarter Toddler you’re never too young to begin learning. Since the firstSmarter Toddler location at 89th street became popular a new location at 55th street and 9th avenue near Lincoln Center is planned for September 2007.
